This could block the sieves. A lower moisture content also has a great influence on the grinding. The product may become tougher and difficult to grind. The capacity is reduced and the product becomes less fine. The influence of the moisture content on the hammer mill depends on the product. With cereals, for example, this can be a maximum of 15%, whereas with starch the moisture content can be as high as 20%.
