Q&A: What weight can a big bag have?
What weight can a big bag have?
The permissible weight of a Big Bag is stated on the label. SWL = Safe Work Limit = the safe carrying capacity of the Big Bag. This must not be exceeded. SF = Safety Factor = the safety factor. A safety factor of 5 applies for single use. This means that the Big Bag must maintain 5x the load capacity of the Big Bag before it tears. Big Bags for multiple use must meet a safety factor of at least 6. The Big Bag will tear at SWL x SF, for example 1000 x 5 = 5,000 kg. The strength of a Big Bag depends on the same load on the lifting loops, no sharp / pointed material in the product flow and long-term exposure to UV radiation (wind and weather).
