Nutreco: from traditional animal feed to cell feeds
“We provide innovative feed solutions that help animals grow in a healthy way. In addition to our traditional feed solutions, we are focusing on producing nutrients for innovative proteins, such as cultivated protein. As pioneers, we develop scientifically proven solutions that support both the agricultural and alternative protein sectors.
Cultivated protein has the potential to be a sustainable alternative to traditional protein production. Cultivated protein is produced by growing animal cells in a bioreactor. This method requires a high-quality process to ensure the quality of the cultivated protein. When we started exploring the possibilities of cell feed for cultivated protein, we needed a partner who could adapt to the unique challenges of this industry. It is reassuring to work with a partner who has experience in this area.”

a production line for cell feeds
“We worked with Dinnissen to develop a custom-made production line for cell feeds from scratch. This included everything, from intake to grinding and mixing.
The new production line features a range of machines, including a pneumatic transport system, a pin mill, and a high-quality mixer. These machines work together to create a precise mix of nutrients, which is essential for optimal cell growth. Our cell feeds contain as many as 50 to 60 ingredients.”

“The line is fully tailored to our specific needs. The combination of different machines, such as the pin mill and the mixer, ensures an efficient production process. In addition, the line is designed with a strong focus on safety and hygiene, which are extremely important. The line includes HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) features and is entirely made of stainless steel. Together with Dinnissen, we have designed and built a complete production line that not only meets current requirements but is also ready for future expansions.”
