Gigantic time savings in hygienic production processes

In the dairy and food industry, fouling of lactose transport pipelines is a major problem. To ensure product safety and quality, lactose-containing products are often processed in hygienic production processes. Due to the strict hygiene requirements, cleaning pneumatic conveying systems is a time-consuming and labor-intensive job. The piping of the conveyor system has to be disassembled, after which it has to be cleaned with hot water. To prevent bacterial growth, the pipes must be completely free of moisture before the system can be reassembled.

Aeolus Transport System (3D)

8 to 12% more production days a year

The cleaning process mentioned above takes several days at a time and often needs to be repeated every 8 weeks. With the new Aeolus System, you prevent lactose accumulation, reducing the need to stop production for cleaning up to 12 times. This can result in 8-12% more production days a year. In addition, it results in huge savings on labor costs.

Aeolus Lactose Conveying Systems in brief

  • Prevents lactose build-up in pneumatic transport
  • Up to 12 times less cleaning required
  • 8-12% more production time each year
  • Enormous savings on labor costs
  • Maximum product flow at all times due to retained passage diameter
  • Continuous product quality due to an absence of product contamination
  • Longer system life through reduced wear and tear thanks to smooth product flow
  • Less chance of system damage due to mechanical removal (with hammers) of accumulated lactose
  • Reduced risk of contamination and bacterial growth as less frequent opening and cleaning of systems is required
  • Broadly applicable for pneumatic transport of different products

Continuous product quality thanks to maximum passage diameter

The Aeolus concept also improves product quality; because there is no more accumulation of lactose, the passage diameter in the tubes remains at a maximum during transport. This results in continuous product flow and quality, as there is no more product accumulation and therefore no loss of transport speed, no damaged particles and less chance of bacterial growth and product contamination.

How it works

The Aeolus Lactose Conveying Systems is specially designed for pneumatically conveying lactose and lactose-containing substances to prevent lactose build-up. The innovative shape and construction of bends and corners minimize friction, turbulence and wear. Less abrasion around corners prevents fouling. Instead of using coatings, the product design of the various components such as bends and switches has been optimized. The Aeolus conveying concept is also suitable for transporting other (lactose-free) substances at risk of fouling.

Transport tailored to the product

Substances can be transported in different phases and densities. Depending on the product to be transported and the desired transport conditions, you can choose dilute-phase transport or dense-phase transport.

Dilute-phase transport

In dilute-phase transport, the material is pneumatically mixed with air or gas, causing the material to be transported ‘in suspension’. This is characterized by a relatively high transport speed and a low load factor. This minimizes product damage and enables both drying and cooling during transport. A high-pressure blower or vacuum pump is often used as a power source in dilute phase transport. The dilute phase transport system is reliable, robust, and suitable for situations with uneven supply.

Dense-phase transport

In dense-phase transport, solids are propelled through the pipeline as a ‘wad’, using air or gas. This type of transport is characterized by relatively low transport speeds, with relatively low air/gas consumption. A medium pressure compressor is often used as a source. Two systems can be distinguished within this type of transport, namely a dense phase with high-pressure locks or vacuum and a dense phase with transmitting barrel transport.

Dense-phase with high-pressure locks or vacuum

Thanks to high-pressure locks, bulk goods can be supplied in a transport system even at high pressure differences. This involves low gas consumption and high loading. Transport via high-pressure locks is particularly suitable for a continuous production process in which minimum product damage is required. With negative pressure, a vacuum is created to suck the product to the right place.

Dense-phase with transmitting barrel transport

Transmitting barrel transport involves low speed, high loading and low gas consumption. This mode of transport is especially suitable when minimal product damage is allowed and suits a discontinuous production system, within a dust-free environment. The system is free of rotating parts.

  • Conveyance length up to 700 meters
  • Capacity up to 50 tons per hour
  • Gas velocity with dilute-phase conveying 4-15 m/s
  • Gas velocity with dense-phase transport 20-30 m/s
  • Solution tailored to the product and customer requirements

Key features, options, and models

Dinnissen offers various solutions for pneumatic conveying. We have systems that work with air pressure, but also solutions with gas. The product can be temporarily diluted with air or gas, allowing high transport speeds to be achieved. In addition, you can move the product as a whole, using high-pressure locks or transmitting barrel transport.

In addition to the above solutions, Dinnissen has developed a special slow-flow transport system, suitable for continuous production processes with strict hygiene requirements. The focus here is on fast and thorough cleaning, including ultra-dustproof sealing of the transport system. As the ratio of loading to conveying air is optimal, relatively low transport speeds occur. This makes the system particularly suitable for breakage-sensitive, abrasive and greasy raw materials, such as milk powder, sugar, sand, chalk, milk, and cocoa.

Slow-flow transport system

Within the slow flow concept, an extremely compact receiver system is sufficient, which is quick and easy to clean and can be easily integrated into new and existing situations. Moreover, it has low gas and energy consumption, which makes a compact air handling system and a  small air filter sufficient.

Depending on your preferences, the slow-flow transport system can be automatically cleaned and made ultra-dustproof. It is also possible to increase capacity. In addition, high-precision measuring and weighing equipment can be integrated, you can create under- or overpressure, choose inflatable seals or automatic cleaning by air. As a source for generating the transport medium, a medium pressure blower or compressor is often used, with an overpressure of 0.2 to 0.5 bar.

Closed-loop-transport

In addition to the above options, we also have closed-loop transport systems. As the name suggests, it’s a closed-loop system, in which the transport medium air is replaced by an inert gas such as nitrogen. This creates an explosion- and oxidation-free transport solution. To keep gas costs at a minimum, the system is equipped with an innovative gas recovery system.

How it works

With pneumatic suction transport, the pump is placed behind the receiving unit. Thanks to the negative pressure, there is hardly any dust emission even when the hatches or coupling points are opened. It’s therefore ideal for situations with high demands on hygiene and a dust-free environment. An additional advantage is that suction transport often does not require additional transport air cooling. A precondition, however, is that the raw materials are dosed somewhat regularly.

In pneumatic blow transport, the pump is placed at the beginning of the system. Blown air makes it possible to transport raw materials from one entry point to one or more receiving units. It’s also possible to indicate where the product should go, through a changeover system. An additional advantage of pneumatic blow transport is that dirt and dust cannot enter the production process.

Versatile mode of transport

Mechanical vertical transport can be used for both small and very large transport quantities. Depending on the product to be transported and the desired transport speed, different types of screws and different types of elevators can be chosen. In addition, not only the quantity of product per hour is variable, but also the type of product. Mechanical vertical transport can be used for bulk goods, but also fragile or explosive products. The system requires relatively little maintenance, but the moving parts must be properly shielded to prevent industrial accidents.

  • Suitable for small and large transport quantities
  • Adaptable to the product to be transported
  • Also suitable for explosive products
  • Little maintenance required
  • Long service life
Screw Conveyor - ST-500 (3D)
Screw Conveying

Key features, options, and models

Mechanical vertical transport can be realized using elevators or a screw. Both systems can handle bulk materials as well as loose materials and both systems are available in different versions.

Elevators

Elevators are highly suitable for vertical transport of large quantities of product. Elevators from Dinnissen take up minimal space and can be integrated into existing and new production lines. Depending on the product to be transported, we have various types of buckets. Elevators can bridge one floor and are also suitable for multi-level transport. Elevators are suitable for transporting ingredients that are sensitive to abrasions, such as sugar, compound feed, chemicals, chalk, sand and cement.

Depending on the specific situation, elevator conveying can be done vertically or in a Z- or U-shaped pattern. For granulates or very fragile products, shuttle cups can be used. Furthermore, it is possible to install a pre-dosing system. The containers are available in polished or unpolished stainless steel, plastic and wear-resistant steel.

Screw transport

A screw can be used for both horizontal and vertical transport and is mainly used for short distances. Screw transport is very suitable for products with a high viscosity. Sticky or clumping material, such as a paste, syrup, or slurry, is transported smoothly by the rotating movement of the screw. This transport system with a low loading factor is also very suitable for transporting fragile products.

A screw conveyor from Dinnissen is available with single screws, double screws, or concave screws (overlapping/converging screws). In addition, the angle of the screw can be adapted to existing installation(s). Dinnissen's screw transport consists of a cylindrical tube in which a spiral screw is mounted concentrically. You can also use a screw conveyor without a tube. This is called a screw auger. For environments with strict hygiene requirements, Dinnissen supplies special easy-to-clean systems, equipped with shaftless screws or screws that can be easily removed.

How it works

The way a vertical conveyor system works depends on the chosen form. Whereas with elevators, each time a ‘batch’ is transported by a bucket, screw conveyance involves a continuous flow of product, which is rotated further and further into the screw.

Elevators

Mechanical vertical transport with elevators is a powered form of transport that carries (bulk) goods from top to bottom or from bottom to top. Elevators work with a powered conveyor belt or chain conveyor, to which buckets are attached that are filled and emptied.

Screw transport

Another form of mechanical vertical transport is screw transport. This solution is not only suitable for vertical transport but can also be installed horizontally or at an angle. Screw conveyance consists of a tube with a driven screw-shaped interior. Through its rotating movement, the product that is inside the tube gets transported.

Suitable for fragile and breakable products

Conveyor belt systems and segmental belt systems offer the advantage that a product can be transported without being shaken. This makes this form of transport suitable for transporting ingredients that are fragile or sticky or pose an explosion risk. Dinnissen's conveying systems are properly aligned, ensuring trouble-free functioning for a long time. Dinnissen's chain conveyor systems are also suitable for fragile products, as this form of transport exerts little pressure on the product.

  • Products are not shaken
  • Suitable for fragile or sticky products
  • Suitable for products at risk of explosion
  • Low maintenance due to good alignment
  • High transport capacities
Belt Conveying (3D)
Roller Conveying (3D)

Key features, options, and models

Mechanical transport can be designed with a conveyor belt system, a chain belt system, a roller conveyor system, or a segmental system. Each form of transport has its advantages and disadvantages. We determine the most adequate solution based on the product to be transported, the desired speed and the entire production process. You can equip your conveyor system with a range of handling accessories, adapted to specific products (granulates, flakes, and so on). By doing so, you ensure the transported ingredients remain on the belt, even during diagonal transport up to 60°.

How it works

A mechanical conveying system is (in addition to gravity) driven by a motor. The type of conveying system (with belts, chains, rollers or segments) can be determined based on the product to be transported. Chain conveyor systems work with an endless chain or cable, to which freely suspended carriers are attached. When this chain is set in motion, the carriers drag the material to be transported through the system towards the output.

In conveyor and segmental systems, the product is not carried by a chain or cable, but by wheel-driven belts. Because these types of conveyor systems exert little pressure on the product, it is relatively break-resistant, making this type of conveyor especially suitable for products that are fragile or rapidly fluidized. Very high transport capacities can be achieved, and it is possible to transport the product to multiple outlets.

Hygienic and efficient transport

Because the Dinnissen vibration transport system doesn’t have loose moving parts, this method of transport is highly suitable for processes where fast and thorough cleaning is required. When using a longer tube, you can choose to add access hatches along the entire length of the tube. This allows manual and thorough cleaning of the entire system. Vibration transport allows products to be transported at higher speeds than conveyor belts, which are more susceptible to jamming and wear at similar speeds. Vibration transport is also relatively insensitive to congestion and clogging of the transport channel. As a result, intervention is rarely necessary for this type of transport. Furthermore, vibration transport makes it possible to adjust the speed of transport and dose bulk goods very precisely.

  • Easy thorough cleaning
  • Continuous flow of bulk goods
  • Adjustable speed
  • Combination of conveying and dosing
  • Transport both horizontally and against a slight slope

Key features, options, and models

Our vibration transport can be integrated into both new and existing processes. A vibration transport system consists of a tube or a trough-shaped housing, which is vibrated by two unbalance motors. The length and precise design of this vibration transport system are determined by the location, the product to be transported and the desired end speed. Dinnissen's vibrating gutters and tubes are available with access hatches along the entire length of the gutter or tube so that inspection and cleaning can be arranged in no time.

How it works

Vibration transport works on the principle that is already reflected in the name: vibration. A U-shaped or closed tube is set into vibration with the help of two unbalance motors. Unbalance motors are motors to which unbalanced weights are attached. Through the motor, these weights make a circular movement, creating vibration. With each forward vibration, the product inside the tube is slightly moved forward. This process keeps repeating, thus propelling the product to the desired location. The materials inside the tube move by a combination of vibration and gravity. The speed at which this occurs depends on the frequency of the vibration drive and the amplitude range.

Customized to your company's needs

Powders, grains, and granulates can be transported in bulk, but also Big Bags, bags, containers, or drums. These packing materials also need to be transported, cleaned and processed. Dinnissen examines the desired production process and determines with you what is needed to make this process run as smoothly as possible. We supply systems that can transport, pick up, clean, store, and discharge Big Bags, bags, containers, or drums.

When working in a high-care environment, for example, a Big Bag cannot simply be delivered from the outside through a conveyor. We provide solutions that deliver the Big Bags on pallets via a roller conveyor and bring them to a transition sluice. There, the film can be removed from the Big Bag and the Big Bag can be transferred from a wooden pallet to a clean plastic pallet. Then the Big Bag can be cleaned with ionized air or UV light so that hygiene and safety are guaranteed.

  • Both manual and automated solutions
  • Storage options for all types of grains, granules, and powders
  • Safe product handling, including for high-care environments
  • With employee ergonomics in mind
  • Designed, tested, and developed in-house

Key features, options, and models

Besides solutions for transporting loose bulk goods, Dinnissen offers conveying options for bags, Big Bags, containers, and drums. But product processing is more than just conveying. We also have a solution for handling steps such as filling, emptying, or repackaging. In addition to conveyor belts, (Big Bag) roller conveyors, (Big Bag) chain conveyors, rotary tables, traverses, collection points, handover points, silos and Receiving Hoppers, there are more options to shape the product processing process. Such as a cleaning booth for stripped bagged goods. The bag is blown clean with ionized air or undergoes UV treatment in a special UV tunnel. Using an advanced scanning system, you can also integrate product track-&-trace. In addition, we offer complete systems for conveying new, filled Big Bags.
